Plug-in Hybrids and Electric Vehicles
Another viable solution to reducing our
dependence on foreign oil is the
plug-in hybrid. Once considered the car of tomorrow - plug-in hybrids are due to start
arriving in American showrooms within the
next 12 to 24 months. While standard hybrids run on both gasoline
and electricity and greatly reduce fuel costs, a
plug-in hybrid can travel much farther - and
exclusively on electricity. Since half of
Americans don't drive their cars more than 35
miles a day - a plug-in hybrid that runs on
electricity for at least thirty-five miles, would
free millions of Americans from the cost of
gasoline.
